You may have enjoyed Yum Cha in a restaurant before and all the different dim sum they offer. Have you wanted to try making dim sum yourself at home? It can be daunting for the first timer. This class takes the anxiety out of getting it right so you can show off your skills to your family and friends.

You will not only know how to make great dim sum for home or entertaining, you’ll also appreciate the chef’s work when you next go out for yum cha.

In this class you will learn to make the yum cha classics. Classes run for 3 hours and there are no pre-requisite skills required. They are conducted in a casual and relaxed environment in our state-of-the-art kitchen and you will dine on your meals in our wonderful dining room with a glass of wine!

All classes are hands-on so you will be preparing the food and not just watching a demonstration.

A typical class commences with an introduction to the Chinese pantry, as well as a detailed explanation of the background and context of each dish and particular ingredients used.

Exciting recipes for you to cook in preparation for your dinner parties MAY include;
  • Siu Mai – Steamed prawn and pork ‘dim sum’ in yellow wrapping
  • Spring rolls – Filled with delicious prawn and/or chicken
  • Guo Tie – Pan fried Pork dumpling
After creating your dish, enjoy your creation in our luxurious dining room
** Please ensure that you are wearing enclosed shoes and long hair tied back.

Please note

All classes & workshops are conducted ‘hands on’. No prior cooking skills are required. To ensure personal tuition our classes are kept small, from minimum of 8 to maximum of 16. For safety reason, we require all participants to wear fully enclosed, flat, non-slip shoes. Please also ensure that long hair is tied back.
